Keystone XL - A Critical Project to ALEC

First of all you have to understand one thing:
The "secretive" American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) IS NOW HIDING – their member magazine.
Since the last meeting they had – they are no longer releasing the magazine for public view and review on their webpage.

(As an aside – you CAN find the latest member magazine of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) online – at the link – another example of how ALEC and NCLS are NOT the same.)

Today - I found an excerpt of the November/December magazine that included this:

Well – that clarifies ALEC’s stand on the Keystone Pipeline – but why would anyone be surprised – being that the Koch brothers have bailed ALEC out of financial problems twice.

But I was a little more than interested in who the author was and then I found this:

Pipeline could create thousands of immediate jobs

WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Obama Administration will announce that it is not going to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that has the potential to create 20,000 immediate jobs and deliver 700,000 barrels of oil per day to U.S. markets. The pipeline has been under consideration by the State Department since 2008.

In response, Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) Executive Vice President Michael Whatley issued the following statement:

“CEA is extremely disappointed with the Administration’s announcement. It is mystifying that they would make this announcement less than 24 hours after the President’s own Council on Jobs and Competitiveness specifically called for growth in the energy sector to increase job creation. With gasoline prices at record annual highs and Iran threatening the Straits of Hormuz, there is simply no excuse for the Administration not to move forward with this project now.”

Last fall, CEA delivered more than 450,000 public comments from across the country supporting construction of Keystone XL.

And I found this
Mr. Whatley served as the Chief of Staff for Senator Elizabeth Dole; Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate Change, and Nuclear Safety of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works; Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the United States Department of Energy; and Counsel to the Senate Republican Conference. Mr. Whatley also served as a Senior Policy Coordinator and Counsel to the Bush-Cheney campaign and transition teams

More ALEC propoganda - sent to YOUR legislator.
