J&J Suspends ALEC

TRENTON — Johnson & Johnson, the pharmaceutical giant based in New Brunswick, announced today that it has parted ways with the American Legislative Exchange Council.

"We have been in dialogue with ALEC for some time, and while we acknowledge ALEC’s recent decision to focus only on innovation and growth-supporting policies, we have decided to suspend our participation and membership,” Carol Goodrich, director of corporate communication, in a statement today.

Two weeks WalMart Suspended ALEC
Walmart Stores Inc., announced late Wednesday it’s suspending its membership with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the right-wing policy group that has worked to suppress the black vote and promoted “Kill at Will” gun laws.

“We feel that the divide between these activities and our purpose as a business has become too wide. To that end, we are suspending our membership in ALEC,” Wal-Mart vice president of public affairs and government relations, Maggie Sans, told Reuters. Sans is stepping down as secretary of ALEC’s corporate board.

What does "suspending our membership"  really mean???
Until America forgets about ALEC for awhile and then we jump right back into that nastiness.
I'd much prefer thye had both said - they quit ALEC.

Wonder what it means....
The suspends is killing me.
