Chevron - ALEC Member / "International Criminal"

I was driving to work this morning listening to a rebroadcast of Democracy Now when they started talking about Chevron.

Good old ALEC member Chevron.

Chevron Corporation[14], "Director" level sponsor of 2011 ALEC Annual Conference[16] ($10,000 in 2010)[17][13] Member of ALEC's Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force [49]

And I couldn't help thinking - the whole time I was listening to the broadcast
THIS is why Chevron belongs to the American Legislative Exchange Council
THIS is why Chevron wines and dines ALEC state legislators

THIS is why ALEC wants to gut environmental regulations.
THIS is why ALEC wants the state legislatures (which supposedly would be ALEC/Koch controlled) to take away local decision making power.

One model bill from ALEC's member corporations would repeal ALL land use planning and zoning for rural counties by both county and state governments. Under this bill, property could be used for any purpose, without regard for single-family, agricultural, or industrial zoning, or environmental land use restrictions.

This would prevent a local government from controlling development,

THIS is why ALEC writes legislation that EXPANDS the right of polluters.

THIS is where ALEC gets their money to operate - to continue to exist - from companies like Chevron.

Everything about this report is why corporations want control of our government - through membership in  the American Legislative Exchange Council.

Please take the time to watch or listen to it - about 10 - 15 mintues.
