Vukmir - Let ALEC Crash Wisconsin's Economy

ALEC helps lawmakers learn from one another

According to a national study that examines the economic policies of all 50 states conducted by economist Arthur Laffer, Wall Street Journal reporter Stephen Moore and Jonathan Williams of ALEC's (American Legislative Exchange Council) Center for State Fiscal Reform - Wisconsin ranks near the bottom for economic performance.
Funny how she doesn’t mention the name of that report
Rich States, Poor States” might be a little bit  contentious right now -

The study found that one of the biggest obstacles to economic progress in our state comes in the form of high tax rates for companies and individuals alike;
There we go with the ALEC mantra again.
WHY – please tell me WHY do corporations always have to be in everything ALEC members write.  Maybe once they could think about their REAL consitutents – the people.  Just once.

My legislative colleagues and I have begun and continue to take the necessary steps to restore fiscal sanity here in Wisconsin by reforming state spending programs and increasing economic competitiveness.
Using disastrous ALEC policies and “model” legislation

In 2011, Wisconsin faced a $3.6 billion budget deficit attributed to out-of-control spending and unfunded pension liabilities.
There’s the union bash.
Let’s see – shouldn’t someone be asking the question – who brought Wisconsin to a $3.6 billion deficit?  Let’s see – wasn’t there an ALEC governor in charge with an ALEC legislature doing his bidding?

It's only through free-market, pro-growth and limited government measures, promoted by ALEC, that our state will be able to move its economy forward in these perilous times of economic uncertainty.
Really – I don’t think so – using the Laffer/ALEC Rich States report can CRASH YOUR STATE economy as outlined in the analysis of the report done by the EOI  (Part I and Part II).

One promising sign for Wisconsin's future is that the same economic survey referenced above has our state's near-term economic outlook improving, ranking 32nd among 50 states. In order to remain on this path, we must hold strong to advancing practical, pro-growth policies at the state level.
If ALEC wasn’t in office in Wisconsin – they would probably be ranked a hell of a lot higher than 32nd.  ALEC “model legislation”, ALEC politicians, and ALEC policies brought them to where they are today.

That's why membership in ALEC is so critical. It ensures a collaborative effort between lawmakers in all 50 states so that we can learn from each other and exchange ideas to produce more effective public policy.
What a crock of shit!
As I have outlined many times – “model legislation” that is introduced at ALEC meeting is WRITTEN BY CORPORATIONS.
Lawmakers come together from the 50 states to pick up their checks and kiss corporate butt at ALEC meetings.

Maintaining a commitment to the principles of free-markets and limited government has never been more important,
Why not maintain a commitment to the citizens of the state of Wisconsin?  The PEOPLE - - or maybe she doesn’t remember who THE PEOPLE are.
Free markets can not exist without government!  (Do a Google search)
Ask Chile how well their free-market economy put into place by dictator Pinochet worked for them – cause it did not!!!!

Leah Vukmir is a state senator representing the fifth district.
Vukmir 2009 ALEC legislator of theYear.
Let’s hope gets to put that on a resume soon when she is looking for a new job..

But in the comments you had this piece of wisdom and truth:
pollyanna - Today at 7:55 AM - Report Abuse
Thank you Leah Vukmir, for being brave enough to admit who you really serve, because as one of your "constituents" I have always known that you have never worked for me.

Lets see – which state ALEC legislators (past and present)  - using ALEC policies and ALEC "model legislation" have brought Wisconsin to where they aretoday?
