Snott Walker - Overall, An Embarassment to ALEC.

I woke up this morning and felt remiss about the fact that I haven't been keeping up my end of the bargain with ALEC lately.
Back in 2011 in a newsletter to ALEC chairs -
       ALEC deemed my blog a "radical opponent".

For the past four months - life has gotten in the way of my writing - but not so much anymore.

Here's to a prolific ALEC 2014 - please rejoin me for the ride!

It was 3 years ago that Snott Walker on his first day in office he pushed thru bills and other reforms that were straight out of two ALEC reports:
First his budget
- which was based on an outdated 2002 ALEC report named
  "Show Me The Money: Budget-Cutting Strategies for Cash-Strapped States"
Second his "tort reform" reform agenda
- which was almost word for word taken from an ALEC report named
  "The State Legislator’s Guide: Tort Reform Boot Camp"

Nine days later - in relation to the tort reform legislation
On January 11th - directly from the ALEC home office, this email to
    ALEC Members on the Wisconsin Assembly Judiciary and Ethics Committee
Telling them:

We understand that the Assembly Committee on Judiciary and Ethics and the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Utilities, Commerce, and Government will hold a joint hearing on AB1 and SB1 this afternoon. At the request of Gov. Walker, Rep Ott and Sen Zipperer, the Committee on Assembly Organization introduced this legislation to foster fairness and predictability in the Wisconsin state Legal system.  Many of the reforms encompassed by AB1 have foundation in ALEC model legislation.  This bill is a strong piece of reform legislation that will have significant positive effects on Wisconsin's legal climate and economic viability.  ALEC is deeply committed to the advancement of substantive civil justice reform in the United States and supports this legislation which contains numerous provisions that reflect ALEC's civil justice reform policy and model legislation.

Proud of their puppet governor
- experimenting on the people of the state of WI
- using a pre-written agenda and
- a strongly held ALEC legislature.

So proud they wrote a ballad - I mean press release - about Snottie.

ALEC Commends Gov. Walker for Decreasing Burdens on Businesses by Reforming Wisconsin’s Legal System

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 27, 2011) - Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) signed into law today Special Session Senate Bill 1, legislation aimed at reforming the state’s civil justice system. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) commended newly-elected Gov. Walker and the new Wisconsin legislature for their leadership in responding quickly to their mandate to restore business confidence and for making tort reform one of their top priorities to achieve this goal.

“Wisconsin’s legislature and Gov. Walker should be lauded for their immediate attention to reforming the state’s legal system. They are the first of many states expected to consider such tort reforms as part of job creation packages in 2011,” said Amy Kjose, ALEC’s Civil Justice Task Force Director. “Reforming state legal systems is often a budget-neutral way, or sometimes even a budget-positive way, to restore confidence for businesses as the economy struggles to recover.”

The bill comes at a critical time, when Gov. Walker called the legislature into special session for the express purpose of decreasing burdens on business and reigniting the state’s sluggish economy. This bill is a strong piece of reform legislation that will have a significant impact on Wisconsin’s legal climate and economic viability.

Kinda ashamed of the publicity Snottie brought to ALEC.

Probably pissed at Snottie that he brought all that sunshine to the inner corners of ALEC.
Probably pissed that Snottie was too stupid to do ALEC work in a slimy sneeky way.
Probably pissed that Snottie slammed ALEC legislation down the throats of the WI people
   - making everyone sit up! and take notice~~~~~~~~of ALEC.


Pretty sure ALEC probably sent out an email about forcing passage of the budget bill too
- but, as of now, no one has a copy of it.

ALEC tied the noose around their Walker budget neck even tighter with the release of their RSPS this past summer - as critiqued by Laura Macomber

Wisconsin is one of the more interesting examples to look to for such statistical disparities. ALEC ranked the state #15 for economic outlook, even as the Bureau of Labor Statistics gave Wisconsin the 44th spot on their ranking for private-sector job creation. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce was recently busy ranking Wisconsin at 44th, too—this time, for overall economic performance. It might seem strange that a state that ranks so poorly on two separate economic rankings (one endorsed, as it were, by the U.S. government) would fare so well on a list disseminated by a “nonpartisan public-private partnership of America’s state legislators, members of the private sector and the general public.”

Snott Walker has turned out to be an embarrassment for ALEC.

Snott Walker has shown America that ALEC legislation/policy does not work.
Snott Walker has shown America the vile anti-citizen nature of legislation distributed by the American Legislative Exchange Council.
